About Us

A blog about the travels of Jane, Rog and Flynn in their van, Jones – a Euramobil Xtura XT686.

Why Jane? Because it means “Gift of God” and that’s exactly what I was.

Why Roger? Because Rog’s father swerved “Patrick” at the last minute. “Paddy Nolan” was just a bit too Irish for someone born in Rawtenstall.

Why Flynn? Because it was his English name on the rescue site. We thought it was his actual name, and stuck with it.

Why Jones? Because all our vans are named in a pottery theme. The first was a VW Transporter called “Spode” – because it was our china wedding anniversary present to each other. The second, an Adria Twin 640SGX, was “Denby” because the dealer was based in Denby in Derbyshire, right next to the pottery. The Xtura was harder to name. The factory in Germany is nowhere near Meissen. The dealer is in Hull, more famous for having the second great university in the UK than for china. In the end, we followed the suggestion of someone on Motorhome Fun, and chose “Jones” for Keith Brymer-Jones, because this van is “the best thing you’ve ever done.” Time will tell on that one!
